Digitization Centre of Cultural and Environmental Heritage

The Research and Technology Transfer Center for the Digitalization, Conservation, Enhancement, and Accessibility of Cultural and Environmental Heritage is based at the University of Perugia and is structured as follows:

  • Director of the Center
  • Board of Directors
  • Scientific Committee
  • Project Office

Director of the Center

The Director is a tenured professor at the University of Perugia, elected by the Board of Directors from among its members and appointed by the Rector of the University of Perugia for a three-year term.

The Director represents the Center, promoting and coordinating its activities. Specifically, the Director:

  • Convenes and presides over the Board of Directors (C.d.A.).
  • Convenes and presides over the Scientific Committee.
  • Submits relevant acts to the Board of Directors for approval.
  • Oversees the overall functioning of the Center.
  • Presents an annual activity report to the Scientific Committee.
  • May invite external experts to Board meetings for discussions on specific agenda items.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors consists of seven members:

  • Three professors from the University of Perugia.
  • One member appointed by the Ministry (representing the Superintendencies).
  • One member appointed by the Municipality of Spoleto.
  • Two members from the affiliated institutions.

The Board of Directors serves a three-year term and meets at least three times a year at the request of the Director. Its responsibilities include:

  • Electing the Director from among its members.
  • Approving and amending the Center’s Regulations.
  • Assisting the Director in implementing the Center’s strategies.
  • Approving the budget and financial reports.
  • Deliberating on new memberships.
  • Defining the scientific activity guidelines of the Center.

Scientific Committee

The Scientific Committee is composed of professors and researchers specializing in the Center’s areas of research and interest. It is convened by the Director or at the request of at least one-third of its members.

The Scientific Committee is responsible for:

  • Developing and proposing the general scientific direction of the Center to the Board of Directors.
  • Suggesting coordination and outreach initiatives.
  • Providing technical and scientific opinions on projects and activities upon request.
