Digitization Centre of Cultural and Environmental Heritage

Ce.Di.Pa. is located in Spoleto, within the historic building that housed the Justice of the Peace offices until 2018 and, before that, the Jesuit college annexed to the Church of Santa Maria della Concezione. This 16th-century structure, known locally as “Madonna delle Piagge,” is an integral part of the city’s cultural heritage.

Spoleto embodies the various dimensions that the Center seeks to integrate into its activities. The region is home to a rich cultural and environmental heritage, shaped by its unique and dual geographical positioning: it serves as the terminus of the fertile Umbra Valley (also known as the Spoletan Valley) while also acting as the gateway to the Valnerina—a rugged, pre-mountainous area of the Apennines, marked by its winding valleys, deep historical roots, and remarkable biodiversity. This layering of history and nature illustrates the evolving relationship between humans and their environment over millennia.
