Digitization Centre of Cultural and Environmental Heritage

Ce.Di.Pa. will be interconnected—both physically and logically—with the University of Perugia’s network and will adopt cutting-edge technologies to ensure flexibility, scalability, and redundancy, providing researchers with the necessary tools to carry out their activities.

The Center’s infrastructure will include:

  • A scalable storage system with a capacity in the petabyte range.
  • A high-performance computing system with thousands of processing cores, organized within a virtualization environment.
  • A dedicated GPU computing section for Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence applications.

To ensure data processing and storage reliability, resources will be replicated across two separate physical sites, maintaining a safe distance to provide redundancy and resilience, even in emergency situations.

Data registration, distribution, and replication between the two sites will be managed through a GARR network connection with speeds of at least 10 Gbps. The network infrastructure will be secured with firewalls and continuously monitored by a Network Operation Center (NOC) to ensure security and stability.
